چکیده

Abstract The new Fe(II) complex [Fe(trident)(bmik)](ClO 4 ) 2 ( 1 (trident = bis(2-pyridylmethyl)benzylamine and bmik bis(1-methylimidazole)ketone) exhibits a change of magnetic moment in dichloromethane (DCM) solution upon addition pyridine which is attributed to the Coordination-Induced Spin State Switching effect (CISSS). By attaching photoisomerizable azopyridine sidegroup tridentate ligand [Fe(azpy-trident)(bmik)](ClO ; azpy-trident [ N,N -bis(2-pyridylmethyl)]-3-(3-pyridylazo)benzylamine) obtained. As detected by Evans NMR spectroscopy, reversibly changes its homogeneous photoirradiation intermolecular Light-Driven (LD-CISSS). Further support for this interpretation inferred from concentration-dependent measurements.

Rational design of a room temperature molecular spin switch. The light-driven coordination induced spin state switch (LD-CISSS) approach.

Extensive use of quantum chemical calculations has been made to rationally design a molecule whose spin state can be switched reversibly using light of two different wavelengths at room temperature in solution. Spin change is induced by changing the coordination number of a nickel complex. The coordination number in turn is switched using a photochromic ligand that binds in one configuration an...

Coordination-induced spin-state-switch (CISSS) in water.

We present a non-ionic water-soluble porphyrin that does not exhibit measurable aggregation even at high concentrations in water. The spin state of the corresponding nickel(II) complex changes from completely diamagnetic (low-spin) to paramagnetic (high-spin) upon addition of a strong axial ligand. This leads to a strongly reduced NMR relaxation time of the water protons even at low concentrati...

Spin state switching in iron coordination compounds

The article deals with coordination compounds of iron(II) that may exhibit thermally induced spin transition, known as spin crossover, depending on the nature of the coordinating ligand sphere. Spin transition in such compounds also occurs under pressure and irradiation with light. The spin states involved have different magnetic and optical properties suitable for their detection and character...

Characterization of a Paramagnetic Mononuclear Nonheme Iron-Superoxo Complex

O2 bubbling into a THF solution of Fe(II)(BDPP) (1) at -80 °C generates a reversible bright yellow adduct 2. Characterization by resonance Raman and Mössbauer spectroscopy provides complementary insights into the nature of 2. The former shows a resonance-enhanced vibration at 1125 cm(-1), which can be assigned to the ν(O-O) of a bound superoxide, while the latter reveals the presence of a high-...

Asymmetric spin crossover behaviour and evidence of light-induced excited spin state trapping in a dinuclear iron(II) helicate.

Reported herein are the synthesis, structural and magnetic characterisation of a dinuclear FeII triple helicate that displays an unprecedented reversible asymmetric high spin to low spin crossover characterised by a thermal hysteresis: indeed the high spin state can be recovered by white light irradiation at 10 K.
